Montclair, N.J. — Red Bull New York II defeated Toronto FC II 5-0 on Sunday night at MSU Soccer Park. Toronto tested Red Bull goalkeeper Tobias Szewczyk early, with Antone Bossenberry, Elias Khodri and Luca Costabile all forcing saves in the opening six minutes, but the hosts opened the scoring against the run of play in the 11th minute, with Mijahir Jiménez converting a low finish off a pass from Dennis Gjengaar. Toronto thought they had equalized in the 21st minute when Shyon Pinnock finished after bringing down Tim Fortier’s long ball, but the goal was disallowed following a handball call in the build-up. Red Bull New York II made it 2-0 just 28 seconds into the second half, when Benjamin Rodriguez curled an effort from the top of the box into the net. Rodriguez added his second in the 80th minute, before Joshua Munson and Sean Baitinger struck in the 83rd and 84th minutes to complete the scoring.
