FLUSHING, N.Y. — A brace from Louis Munteanu carried D.C. United to a 2-0 victory over New York City FC on Sunday afternoon at Citi Field, four days after NYCFC’s Open Cup win over the Red Bulls. Munteanu opened the scoring in the 29th minute from close range. NYCFC could not find a response despite creating chances throughout — a free kick denied by D.C.’s Sean Johnson, a disallowed goal in the 54th minute, and late headers from Kai Trewin and Keaton Parks that Johnson turned away. Munteanu then converted a penalty in the 75th minute after Keaton Parks was judged to have fouled Lucas Bartlett in the area, putting the match beyond reach. D.C. United recorded their fourth shutout of the 2026 season, moving to 4-4-3 with 15 points in the Eastern Conference.
